What is a Death Doula?

A death doula (also called an end-of-life doula or deathwalker) is a non-medical support person trained to guide individuals and families through dying and grieving. Just as a birth doula supports the entrance into life, a death doula supports the departure.

A death doula is not a medical provider, therapist, or legal advisor. Instead, we complement hospice teams, chaplains, doctors, and funeral homes by tending to the human needs that exist beyond the clinical.

We are not here to fix or rescue, but to witness, guide, and walk alongside.

Why work with a Death Doula?

Because death is more than a moment—
It’s a sacred threshold, a family passage, and a deeply personal experience. A doula can help bring presence, peace, and preparation to what is often feared or avoided.

You don’t have to do this alone. North Node is here to support you, your parents, and your family with calm, clarity, and compassion.
